YouTube - ''homeproject'' Channel

We are living in exceptional times. Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth's climate.

The stakes are high for us and our children. Everyone should take part in the effort, and HOME has been conceived to take a message of mobilization out to every human being.

For this purpose, HOME needs to be free. A patron, the PPR Group, made this possible. EuropaCorp, the distributor, also pledged not to make any profit because Home is a non-profit film.

HOME has been made for you : share it! And act for the planet.

Green Porno on Sundance Channel @ the green

Following up the critical and popular success of her 2008 short film series about the sex lives of insects, Isabella Rossellini migrates from the land to the sea in Green Porno 2. Like the first season of Green Porno, this batch of very short films about the reproductive habits of marine animals is scientifically accurate yet extremely entertaining. Produced by Isabella Rossellini, Jody Shapiro and Rick Gilbert.

Lyrics in English -

Yalla Yalla (excerpt, lyrics by Natik Awayez)

"

The too many words lost their meaning
and the roads lost their patience with the words.
Since my first wander the moon has followed me
and lit up my mouth
and allowed my blood to be spilled.
As I reach for the ocean
I sense the hands of thousands
growing out of the sand, trying the same
trying to grasp a sentence that was whispered
that could very well tell the final secret.
Now the moon shines over the roofs
and the ocean is an ocean for those who are safe in their silence.
Now I lose.

The Gort Cloud - Book

"Green" has gone mainstream, and for many companies caring for the environment is not just a philosophy, it's a marketing strategy. So how does a company that's genuinely committed to green principles differentiate itself from its greenwashing competitors?

Brand expert Richard Seireeni interviewed over two dozen "ecopreneurs" from a broad range of industries - home improvement, transportation, household products, food and beverage, energy, real estate, finance, and fashion. The collective experience of leaders such as Gary Hirshberg of Stonyfield Farm, Jeffrey Hollender of Seventh Generation, and the grandsons of Dr. Bronner, as well as other green experts, are a rich source of wisdom for green businesses getting off the ground or for any business aiming to improve its environmental performance.

The result of these interviews is the discovery of "The Gort Cloud" - a term coined by the author that describes the vast and largely invisible network of NGOs, trendspotters, advocacy groups, social networks, business alliances, certifying organizations, and other members of the green community that have the power to make or break new green brands.

Integrating The Gort Cloud into brand development and marketing strategies is critical to the success of any aspiring green brand. This "green community" can supply technical assistance, venture capital, the first line of core customers, and tremendous "echo effect" in getting the word out quickly and inexpensively.

Creating a cause, building credibility, developing a simple and compelling message, identifying core customers and sales channels, deftly playing the green alternative media, and fending off second-to-market competitors are all required to build a green brand. How these skills are put into practice will vary for each business, but Seireeni's research points toward a set of shared characteristics and basic tenets that every business can use to build a credible and successful green brand.

Vik Muniz "The Beautiful Earth"

This show, featuring Vik Muniz's new 2008 series, Pictures of Garbage, will showcase a total of 40 works--most of which will be making their debut in Japan. Pictures of Garbage was made through a collaboration with the cleaning/waste collection staff at Jardim Gramacho--South America's largest refuse disposal facility, located in Rio de Janeiro. The employees acted as models for the works, which were drawn over an area as large as two basketball courts, and then photographed. We hope you enjoy the witty social ingenuity of Muniz's works.

1% For The Planet

"There is no business on a dead planet".

Through their friendship, love for fly-fishing and respect for the great outdoors, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, realized in conversation one day that they had both been donating atleast 1% of their own business's total annual sales to non-profit environmental groups. They pondered this day why no one else was doing the same, or atleast lighting the fire under other business owners, waking them up and encouraging them to get cracking. Thus, being the go getters that Yvon and Craig are, they took matters into their own hands. Yvon called it an earth tax, Craig called it One Percent for the Planet. They went with Craig's idea and the community was born.

In 2002 20 US companies signed up to be members of One Percent for the Planet at the official launch in San Francisco, CA. Today, September 29th 2008, there are 988 member companies across the planet located on every continent except for Antarctica. All together, in 5 years, over 30 million dollars has been raised and donated to activists working to preserve and protect our planet's precious natural environments. The recipients of these donations, the activists, are non-profit environmental groups, also located all over the world. A list of the wide variety of recipient non-profits that have been approved, and the passionate member companies that make the comittment to donate atleast 1% of their total sales per year, can be found through the search engine on our website at www.onepercentfortheplanet.org .

You can support the One Percent for the Planet community by spreading the word! Ask your favorite businesses if they are members. If they aren't let them know we're here, that we're making it happen and they can help! Also tell your friends and family about us! Seek out businesses that are members of One Percent for the Planet and make purchases from them! Our member companies include Dentists, Real Estate Agents, Lawyers, Photographers, Musicians, Travel Guides, Hotels, Clothing Companies, Record Labels, Surfboard Shapers, Snowboard Companies, Boutiques, Restaurants, Brewing Companies, Wineries, Coffee Companies, Energy Bars and many more!!!

By making your purchases with these member companies, 3 things happen:

1. You know that some of your money is going back to preserving and protecting the natural environment.

2. You prove that each of us can create change through purchase decisions.

3. You reward those companies committed to maintaining a healthy planet.

Help us raise awareness for the One Percent for the Planet community. Help us change the way business is practiced around the world.

Help us "Keep Earth in Business"!

Sustainable Design with Françoise Serralta

Icon-o-Cast by Lunar: Francoise Serralta at Digging Deeper

Françoise Serralta is seen here speaking at the “Digging Deeper” Event hosted by the IDSA in SF last summer (graciously captured for us by the folks at Lunar Design). She is the strategic research and planning director with PeclersParis.

Finished with ideologies and utopian warrior visions on ecology and a perfect world, Françoise is preaching one thing:

Pragmatism!

In her presentation she gives us five main messages on sustainability:

1. Shift from negative to positive semantics in our vocabulary
2. Bioperformance -Applying renewable, natural, and biomimicked processes to our consumer world
3. Pared-down and simplified design
4. Collaborative design for local solutions
5. Assistive design to make sustainable solutions easy to adopt.
